THE SONGHA’S ROLES IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OF HATYAI DISTRICT, SONGKLA PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: (1) to study the roles of Songha in community development of Hatyai district, Songkla province. (2) To compare the roles of Songha in community development of Hatyai district, Songkla province classified by personal factors. (3) to study the problems and the way to development community of Songha in community development of Hatyai district, Songkla province. The research used both of quantitative research and qualitative research. The sample consisted of 398 persons who live Hatyai district, Songkla province. The tools used in collecting data was composed of the questionnaires that both of open-ended and close-ended questions. The data collecting were used statistics such as frequency, percentage , Standard Deviation , t-test , f-test , One Way ANOVA , Least Significant Difference: LSD. The qualitative research method was used the in-depth interview with the key informants and collaborating the context by the content analysis technique. The research findings were as follows : 1. The roles of Songha in community development of Hatyai district, Songkla province found that the overall were at high (xิ = 3.63 ) level and when considered each aspects found that cultural, environment, Social, public health and economic were at high level. 2. The comparison for the roles of Songha in community development of Hatyai district, Songkla province classified by personal status found that the persons who different gender, age, level of education, and occupation, had not different opinion thus the hypotheses were rejected.
