บทคัดย่อ

Muang Nakhon Niellowares are Thai popular aristocrat ornaments and households.The designs and shapes of the ornaments and households are considered to be the most distinctive and beautiful. In general, more than one design is cut and engraved on those devices but there is no confirmation by any research. Thus, the main objectives of this research were to study the number of types and designs engraving on the households and the relation of the designs and the households themselves. The data was collected by taking 100 photos of households from the three most well known nielloware shops in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. Then brought the photos to three nielloware experts to observe the designs and number of designs from each object and made the records. After that the SPSS for Windows and Chi-square test were used for statistical analysis to find out the percentage of the designs and the relation of the design and shape of the households. The results revealed that 16 types of designs were found on the households. The most found designs were Kanok Bai Thade (56%), Kanok Plaw (19%), Kankhot and Prajumyarm (15%),the designs with the engraved pictures (14%),Dok Pudtan (13%), Krua Thao and Bua Khwum (8%), Dok Pikun (7%), Phum Khawbin and Krajung Ta-aoy (6%), Rak Roi (4%), Kanok Sam Toa (2%), Kanok Plaw Krua Thao, Khai Pla and Bua Ngai (1%). The design, the design pattern, the design application, the size and numbers of design are appropriate with the households. In addition, there was a relationship between the designs and the types of the households (p value < 0.05). That is, Kanok Bai Thade, Krajung Ta-aoy and Bua Khwum were most found on the households. Kanok Plaw was found on the ornaments. Krua Thao was found on the appliances. Researchers should continuously study and monitor the designs and shapes on the niellowares.
