Needs Assessment for Security of Teachers and Educational Personnel in Three Southern Border Provinces

Abstract
Insurgency in three southern border provinces of Thailand was continuing. This research was to investigate security needed for the teachers and educational personnel in three southern border provinces. The survey was made by sending the questionnaires regarding needs to 375 teachers and 31 educational personnel. The analyses of needs on 5 aspects. In addition, an in-depth interview was done in one director of Office of the Welfare Promotion Commission for teachers and education Personnel, Yala Province and the focus group dialogue with 12 persons. They were 5 basic education officials, 1 institution of education official, 3 Ministry of Interior officials and 3 Ministry of Defense officials . It was found that serving security needed on money and not money was a most. The teachers and educational personnel security needed at high level ( = 2.52) and the most needed on benefit ( = 2.64). The comparison analysis of the teachers and educational personnel in age, region and line of command structure was highly significant different (p value <0.05). The results from this investigation will be used for a consideration guiding to served for security needs to the teachers as will as educational personnel in three southern border provinces.
