Administrative Organization with Good Governance A Case Study: Muang Betong Municipality, Betong District, Yala Province

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to explore the problems and to outline the developmental plan for the good governance administration of Betong City Municipality.Data were obtained by means of open-ended interview questions, asking about the six characteristics of good governance administration. The research samples were 12 political and public administrators of Betong City Municipality. Results revealed that, in general, the good governance characteristics were employed among the administrative personnel of Betong City Municipality at an acceptable level. The administrative people employed the good governance administrative characteristics: Following the Rule of Law, Transparency, Participatory and Effective and Efficient at a moderate level. Problems in employing the good governance administration included 1) the personnel did not have sufficient knowledge related to rule of law; 2) there was not sufficient cooperation from the public people; and 3) there were not sufficient channels to get public opinions to support the good governance administration.Suggestions for improvement of the good governance administration of Betong City Municipality obtained from the study included: 1) all levels of personnel at Betong City Municipality should be educated on rule of law in the city municipality; 2) the sense of job responsibility should be stimulated and specific jobs should be clearly allocated to the personnel; 3) people should be more involved in decision making and assessing process of the municipality responsibilities; 4) there should be more and better channels for communication with the public; and 5) the municipality personnel should be educated and trained in using the resources at their most potentials.
