WICKERS PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TO THE CREATIVE ECONOMY OF BAN PAKKLONGBANGKAPIENG, HUAPHAI SUB-DISTRICT, MUANG DISTRICT, SINGBURI PROVINCE

Abstract

   

The purpose of this research was to develop wickers product to the creative economy of Ban Pakklongbangkapieng, Huaphai sub-district, Muang district, Singburi province. This research and development used the PDCA quality circuit of Deming, and applied participatory action research by synergizing three parties of 16 stakeholders: 1) the savants of the weaving and community leaders in Ban Pakklongbangkapieng, 2) community product design specialists, and 3) community product marketing experts. Data were collected using list forms based on key points and other issues related to research objectives. The main idea is to diversely product in forms, patterns and colors, different utilities, packaging development that can be unique and suitable for the product’s characteristics. Data checking through the triangulation, that was analyzed in terms of content analysis.

            The main research results and accomplishments were 1) to develop wickers product to the creative economy, by extending the cultural capital of the central region into products with practical benefits which can be used, as an artwork that has been designed by applying more Thai Arts into the product’s characteristics, also specific forms, shapes, sizes, patterns, and colors can be clearly presented. Furthermore, a display artwork can be seen with the artistic taste of the possessor, that they can be called as a masterpiece which is the only outstanding craftwork in the world. They contained 2 sets with 17 pieces, and 1 package.
