The objective of this research was to promote the participation of health parties and household leaders in waste management at Ban Prasat Amnuay, Mueang Fai Subdistrict, Nong Hong District, Buriram Province. The participants consisted of 2 groups: a group of health parties, consisting of 7 people and a group of 45 household leaders. The research was conducted in 3 phases: Phase 1 studied community context, Phase 2 promoted participation of health parties in waste management, and Phase 3 studied the results of promoting participation of health parties. The research instruments consisted of a questionnaire survey, group discussion and questionnaires. Quantitative data analysis used statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and paired t-test. The qualitative data were analyzed with a content analysis.
It was found that, before joining the demonstration process, most people did not separate their waste. Rather, they used waste disposal methods by combining waste and then incinerating it. After participating in the learning process, the household leaders had higher scores, knowledge, awareness and participation in waste management at a statistically higher level. People had separated their waste and disposed of it properly according to every household management principle, including not littering in public places in the village. They developed community rules regarding waste management for further use in the community.
