DEVELOPMENT AND VALUE ADDED BUILDING OF INDIGO PRODUCT TO COMMERCIAL HALAL STANDARD REQUIREMENT

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to develop the indigo products “hiyabs” and add values to commercial halal standard requirement. Data was collected by means of observations and In-depth interviews, the target group consisted of four focus group discussions. Guideline for the development the indigo products to be hiyabs halal standard, consisted of population with 35 samples. Content analysis was applied for data analysis.

            The result findings were 1) The weaving conditions stated that the group members had division of labor due to their skills and produced organic indigo materials. They were proud and had skills in various traditional weaving styles, 2) It did not meet its standard of the sizes, besides, its textual were soft, good for absorbing sweat. Moreover, the new finding indicated the acid with sour taste that mixed with indigo water and ripe papaya water. In additions, the brand "Samawi" means blue and dark blue colors. The symbol "Halal ", the first indigo fabric is in the green package to be natural, 3) Increasing marketing opportunities of Muslim customers via online channels and Facebook Lazada. This could purchase and show products in further exhibitions.

            The evaluation of the satisfaction towards using indigo hiyabs products stated not being musty and easy for cleaning. The level of satisfaction was at highest level. Also, the participatory evaluation of indigo hiyabs product development stated that the community researchers involved in designing hiyabs and product images.
