KNOWLEDGE CREATION BY A LESSON LEARNED PROCESS FROM THE COMMUNITY: A CASE STUDY OF PLANTING HOE IMPLEMENTATION

The lesson learned process from the community was tacit knowledge referring to the knowledge gained through a professional experienced person that was transferred to and person to be able to work more efficiently and reduce the damage caused by trial and error in work. The objective of this research was to create knowledge by a lesson learned process from the community employing a case study planting hoe implementation. The sample group was collected by purposive sampling of key persons and data were collected by in-depth interviews with 11 key persons who were born in ancient agricultural households and cultivation. The research tool was a semi-structured questionnaire on the topic of how to select and maintain a hoe and observation guideline topic in how to use a hoe. The researcher also used non-participant observation employing a video recorder by the Rotoscope technique admitted by a course committee. Data were analyzed by frequency and mean and how to use a hoe content was analyzed by photo analysis considering the key person’s behavior during the use of a hoe. The results showed that the knowledge of hoe implementation included three stories: 1) deciding on a hoe, 2) implementing a hoe, and 3) maintaining the hoe that were lessons learned from direct skill and experience accumulation of the key person. This knowledge was not only consistent with the principles, mechanical advantage values and ergonomic principles, but also safety, pain reduction and hard machinery reduction which were carried out to improve the soil.
