A Development of Innovation and Building Learning Skills in the 21st Century Using Project-based Learning Management Integrated with Local Learning Sources

Abstract

   

The importance of emphasizing knowledge creation through experiences and considering them as opportunities for relevant learning experiences in real life situations for learners, this study is related to research utilizing project-based learning management. The research objectives were to: 1) develop knowledge and understanding of teachers and students using project-based learning management, 2) The learning activity assessment form is appropriate at a high level., and 3) enhance students' 21st-century learning skills. This experimental research designating the sample group according to a simple equation formula consisted of 447 students, using purposive sampling, including 17 mathematics teachers and associate teachers, and 59 students affiliated with the Faculty of Education in Roi Et Rajabhat University. Instruments used in this research were: 1) the knowledge and understanding assessment with a reliability coefficient of 0.83, 2) learning activity evaluation form was highly appropriate project-based learning management platform, and 3) the 21st-century learning skills assessment with a consistency index of 0.85. Data were collected through two workshop meetings, pre and post-development testing, and measurement of 21st-century learning skills. The statistics used for data analysis were t-test, mean, and standard deviation.

                The results of this research indicate that: 1) there are a significant improvement in teachers, associate teacher, and students after the development, 2) the researcher receives the activities of project-based learning was integrated with local learning sources in the community of Roi Ei Province as 17 subjects, and 3) the students' 21st century learning skills are apparently high level. Therefore, the project-based learning management from local learning sources can enhance teachers and students’ skills, knowledge, and expertise in their lifelong learning skills.
