The International Trade Policy Practice of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Cambodia under the Government of General Prayut Chan-O-Cha from 2014 – 2021

Abstract

This research aims to study: 1) The International Trade Policy of The Kingdom of Thailand and The Kingdom of Cambodia Under the Government of General Prayut Chan-O-Cha; 2) The strategic model for policy practicing on trade cooperation between The Kingdom of Thailand and The Kingdom of Cambodia Under the Government of General Prayut Chan-O-Cha from 2014 to 2021 and 3) The obstacles in the trade policy practicing under the Government of General Prayut Chan-O-Cha that affects the formulation of the international economic policy and cooperation in social, economic and political development of Thailand and Cambodia government. This article has used the qualitative research process by collecting data from documented research and in - depth interview from key performance 9 persons, divided into 3 groups: (1) 4 government officials (2) 1 diplomat and (3) 4 private sectors. by adopting the concept of the state policy, Neo-Liberal globalization theory, International Trade Theory and National Interest as a framework for this research.

The findings revealed that, even The Kingdom of Thailand and The Kingdom of Cambodia have the border conflict in the Temple of Preah Vihear’s area, however the conflict is not affect on trade strategy formulation for both countries. Moreover, Non-Democratic political system (liberal) also not affect the international trade policy practicing for Thailand and Cambodia. The study showed that, the conflict and the political system are not affect on international trade policy for both countries because, the policy is defined by the concept of the national interest by opening free trade which will generate the greatest national interest
