Factors Affecting the Decision to Choose the President of Wat Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization Bang Phae District, Ratchaburi Province

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the decision to elect the chief executive of the Wat Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Bang Phae District, Ratchaburi Province, as well as the factors influencing that decision. This research is quantitative in nature. 4,677 voters cast ballots for the Wat Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization's chief executive. Yamane's formula yielded 369 responses. The following statistics were used to analyze the data: (1) descriptive statistics, such as frequencies and percentages, were used to interpret the demographics and data characteristics; (2) inferential statistics, such as a multi-regression analysis, were used to test the hypotheses; and (3) standard deviation was used to describe the distribution characteristics of the data. The results demonstrated that the election campaign's media factor (β=.895) has the greatest influence on voting decisions, followed by the candidate's prior performance factor (β=-.189), personal relationship (β=.184), qualifications (β=.129), and policy (β=-.092), in that order. These factors accounted for 84.1% (R2 = 0.841) of the variance in the dependent variable. The results may help candidates gain the public's trust and win the position of Wat Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization chief executive.
