The Quality of Life from Medical Staff at Ramathibodi Hospital During the Situation of COVID-19 Outbreak

Abstract

This research aimed to study 1) the problems and obstacles in the work of medical staff and 2) the quality of life in the work of medical staff. 3) The psychological state of medical staff. This study is qualitative. Collect information through in-depth interviews with medical staff who play a role in treating COVID-19 patients. 5 groups: 1) doctors and 2) medical assistants. 3) Nurses 4) male nurses, and 5) laboratory doctors, 30 in total, analyzed the data through content analysis.

The results showed that: 1) Medical staff at Ramathibodi Hospital experience pressure and stress from working under limitations such as lack of medication, lack of hospital beds, lack of medical equipment, and shortage of patient rooms. 2) Quality of life in work of medical staff found that the income was insufficient, unsafe to work in the epidemic situation, and suffering from the constant struggle to cure patients from the epidemic. 3) The state of mind in the work medical staff found that performing duties in the situation of the COVID-19 outbreak, results in mental health problems such as depression and burnout syndrome.
