The Role of Local Administrative Organizations in Enhancing the Quality of Life of Persons with Disabilities: A Case Study of Phimai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province

Abstract
This qualitative research aimed to study the overall basic information on disabled people of local administrative organizations in Phimai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, to study the operations of disabled people of local administrative organizations in Phimai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The main informants consisted of executives and officers responsible for disabled people of local administrative organizations, as well as community leaders or volunteers involved in disabled people, totaling 15 people from 5 local administrative organizations, selected from areas with strong operations, namely, Tambon Krabueang Yai, Samrit, Chiwan, Krasorn, and Rang Ka Yai. The data collection tool was a semi-structured interview form. The obtained data was analyzed using a descriptive analysis method.
The results of the study found that the number and characteristics of disabled people in each area were different. Most of them were elderly people with physical disabilities, mobility disabilities, and disabilities from chronic diseases and accidents. People in the area were more aware of their rights and continuously registered to receive welfare. Local administrative organizations tried to support disabled people by providing comprehensive welfare and various services.
Recommendations include Emphasizing the establishment and increasing the efficiency of disabled service centers, increasing personnel and training volunteers in communities to have specialized knowledge and expertise, developing a database system and rights notification system, and improving the environment to be safe and suitable.
