บทคัดย่อ

The study aimed to explore the level of investors' perceptions and the factors influencing their attitudes toward the investment of derivatives in Thailand. This exploratory research employed a questionnaire to collect data from a sample of 400 individual investors who were interested in derivatives in the Bangkok metropolitan area. The results revealed that most of investors knew and received information about derivatives through relevant websites, securities' investment analysis, and TV channels for investors. Three kinds of attitudes regarding the investment—making process (cognitive attitude—understanding of investment), affective attitude—feeling to investment), and behavioral attitude—need to make an investment)—were measured. The respondents were perceived to have a high level of understanding but a medium level for feelings and needs to invest in derivatives. The present findings also indicated that some personal background factors (i.e., age, education, occupation, investment experience, etc.) and different channels of communication, influenced the level of attitudes of the investors toward investment in Thai derivatives.
