Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study of essential digital competency for undergraduate students in Thai higher education institutions and it has 2 domains cover the cognitive domain and psychomotor domain by analysis academic documents. The sources of academic documents were 21 volumes from 2 sources in the country and the aboard and selected by purposive sampling from them. The first source covers academic documents in the country and the aboard from primary sources. And the last source covers the academic documents in the country and the aboard from secondary sources.  The research instrument was qualitative data work sheet from synthesis academic documents in the country and the aboard. The result showed that essential digital competency competency for undergraduate students in Thai higher education institutions consisted of 7 elements that covers the cognitive domain and psychomotor domain. The need composition of the essential digital competency for undergraduate students in Thai higher education institutions consisted of 14 competencies in the 68 cognitive domain variables and 89 psychomotor domain variables. The total 157 variables to consider were essential digital competency for undergraduate students in Thai higher education institutions by focus group discussion in the next phase.
