The Effects of Using the SQ5R Reading Teaching Method Together with Surat Thani Folk Tales on Reading Comprehension Abilty of Prathom Suksa IV Students at Sinpun-Thapee Network Group Surat Thani Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were (1) to compare reading comprehension ability of prathom suksa IV students before and after teaching by using the SQ5R reading teaching method with Surat Thani folk tales. (2) to study the students’ satisfaction towards learning management by using the SQ5R reading teaching method with Surat Thani folk tales of prathom suksa IV students. The samples were prathom suksa IV students of Banbangrup school. There is one room and thirty-nine students were randomly selected by using the group as a unit. The research tools consisted of (1) learning management plan by using the SQ5R reading teaching method together with Surat Thani folk tales. (2) a test of reading comprehension ability (3) a questionnaire inquiring students’ satisfaction towards learning the SQ5R reading teaching method together with Surat Thani folk tales. The collected data were analyzed by mean (x) and standard deviation (S.D.), t-test dependent. The research findings were as follows: (1) The reading comprehension ability of prathom suksa IV students by using the SQ5R reading teaching method together with Surat Thani folk tales was significantly higher at .01 level than before. (2) The satisfaction of prathom suksa IV students towards learning the SQ5R reading teaching method together with Surat Thani folk tales were highly positive.
