School Administrators’ Exertion of Authority According to Viewpoints of Teachers under The Office of Suratthani Primary Educational Service Area 2

Abstract
The objectives of this research were to explore teachers’ perceptions on the exertion of authority among school administrators, to make comparisons of school administrators exertion of authority based on teachers’ perceptions, and to investigate problems as well as suggestions on the exertion of authority among school administrators based on teachers’ perceptions. The selection of subjects was determined by using Krejcie and Morgan’s table and stratified random sampling to obtain 313 teachers under the Suratthani Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The research instrument was a 5-point rating scale questionnaire with reliability coefficient of .982. Statistical data analysis comprised percentage, mean, standard deviation, One-way ANOVA, and Least Significant Difference (LSD) test.
The results concluded that the overall exertion of authority among school administrators based on teachers’ perceptions was at a high level. Considering individual aspects, they were all at high levels. The overall comparisons of school administrators’ exertion of authority, distributed by gender, had no statistically significant difference. In Referent Power aspect, it was found to be statistically significant at the .05 level. Based on distributions by age, educational level, professional position, academic standing, and professional experience, there was no statistically significant difference. However, there was a statistically significant difference in Coercive Power and Referent Power aspects at the .05 level.
