The Dynamics and Wisdom of Coastal Resource Management of Bang Dee Community Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Abstract
This research article aims to study the dynamics and wisdom of coastal resource management of the Bang Dee community in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Use a qualitative research methodology to collect information through observation and interview methods. The main informants were local fishermen. They were Classified by the age of 3 generations such as namely fishermen, grandparents, parents’ fishermen, and the generation of fishermen, a total of 20 people.
The research found that the grandparent’s generation (approximately before 1942) used household-made fishing gear. Including thread nets, which have large and small eyes according to the size of each adult fish species. They have the wisdom of shrimp mining, crab delay, and crab digging with wooden hooks. Finding clams with coconut shells by listening to fish. Viewing wind direction and faith stories about local fishing methods as for the parents' generation (around 1982). They continue to inherit the wisdom, beliefs, stories, and tools of their grandparents’ but add more variety. Especially, the trawl, the siege net that can find unlimited aquatic animals. Use modern knowledge to shape coral reefs to protect fishing gear from damage for descendants (2014 - 2022). Due to the degradation of coastal resources from overfishing since the parent generation causing the new generation to establish a conservation group that brings wisdom, beliefs, and stories to tie into rituals such as the Ordination Ceremony, Loy Phae, and exorcising. for the benefit of restoring the coastal resources of Bang Dee community in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
