The Relationship Between Positive Psychological Capital, Perceived Organizational Support and Turnover Intention with Consideration of Job Satisfaction as a Mediator in Professional Nurses: a Central Hospital in Eastern of Thailand

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to study 1) the level of positive psychological capital, perceived organizational support, job satisfaction and turnover intention of professional nurses 2) the relationships of positive psychological capital, perceived organizational support, job satisfaction and turnover intention of professional nurses 3) the influences of positive psychological capital and perceived organizational support on turnover intention of professional nurses with the mediating role of job satisfaction. This study is an exploratory with 530 subjects who are professional nurses in a central hospital in eastern Thailand. Various kinds of questionnaire were used as a research instrument. Statistics analyzed were percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient and path analysis. The results show as following: 1) subjects have high levels of positive psychological capital, and moderate levels of perceived organizational support, job satisfaction, and turnover intention 2) positive psychological capital and perceived organizational support negatively correlate with job satisfaction at .01 statistical significance 3) positive psychological capital and perceived organizational support have negative correlation with turnover intention at .01 statistical significance 4) job satisfaction has negative relation with turnover intention at .01 statistical significance and 5) perceived organizational
support has influence to turnover intention both directly and through job satisfaction and 6) positive psychological capital has direct effects
on turnover intention.
