The Study on Key Success Factors in the Crime Prevention Program of Local Administrative Organizations on the Central Region

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study and investigate lessons learned from crime prevention and safety innovative program of local administrative organizations with best practice, to study and analyze key success factors for implementing crime prevention and safety innovative program of individual local administrative organizations, and to compare problems and obstacles in the administration of local administrative organizations. This study was a qualitative research through a case study without any action on the subjects. This study aimed to investigate knowledge and facts, inquire and synthesize into new model based on theoretical framework. The sample of this study were four local administrative organizations selected from those with successful performance on crime prevention and safety innovative program and being evaluated for national prize. From a field study, the sample placed the importance on building peace and order and local crime prevention and safety by integrating these issues into strategic plan for development and transforming them into an innovative program. High urbanization of social context would directly affect the crime rate. There were six key success factors including 1) visionary leadership, 2) competency of internal officers, 3) good relationship between executive and legislative branches, 4) organizational potential, 5) external network collaboration, and 6) public participation. The problems and obstacles were the difficulties and complexity of coordinating with external agencies and necessary reliance on information technology system.
