Discrimination Model for High School Students Attending Mathematics Program In Yala Rajabhat University

Abstract

The indicators of performance achievement of the students in Mathematics Program, Yala Rajabhat University were the average point and the previous knowledge ever since they were at a high school level. The research aimed at studying the discrimina-tion model which was able to classify the students whose learning achievements either at good or inadequate level of Mathematics Program at Yala Rajabhat University. This quantitative research employed the independent variables of grade point average of every subject which was studied at the high school level. The students Program of Yala Rajabhat University in the year 2008 were used as the population of this study. The questionnaire was used for forecasting in order to show the Discrimination Model of good or inadequate level. The results of analyzing were as follows: D ̂ = - 5.933 – 0.210 (Thai language) + 1.075(Mathematics) + 0.377 (Foreign language) + 0.594 (Science) – 0.117 (Social studies) + 0.384 (The Work and Occupation Base). The significant level was at 0.05. This model was correctly predicted at 60.8 %. Therefore, the Discrimination Model for appropriate selection process of students in high schools to attend the Mathematics Program of Yala Rajabhat University should comprise the grade point average of every subject in a high school level together with an achieve-ment score according to the entrance examination.
