The Existence, Adaptation and Transmission of Guan Im Pud Jor Chinese Shrine in Khuan Nga Chang, Bangdee Sub-district, Huai Yot District, Trang Province

Abstract
This qualitative research aimed to examine the existence, adaptation, and transmission of Guan Im Pud Jor Chinese Shrine in Khuan Nga Chang, Bang Dee Sub-district, Huai Yot District, Trang Province. In-depth interviews were carried out with eight key informants including persons involved in the Shrine, clients of the Shrine, and laymen involved with the Shrine. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data. Research results were: firstly, the existence of the Shrine resulted from the matching of beliefs and faith between the Shrine and the people. The Shrine was a place of ritual that drove its existence. Secondly, the Shrine attempted to maintain its original format as much as possible. Most adaptations conformed to progress and technology. And thirdly, the transmission of the Shrine was through the continuous succession of various position of officers. The Shrine’s owner had already chosen the heir for the future.
