The Managerial Behaviors of Executives in Business Sector in the Three Southernmost Provinces

Abstract

The managerial behaviors in line with the five criteria of management functions which include planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling is a key factor to  develop an organization efficiency. This research was conducted with major aims to study the managerial behaviors of executives in business sector in the three southernmost provinces and to find the relationship between the managerial behaviors and the executives who have differences in population and business characters. Altogether 369 top executives, of  which 128 in Pattani, 105 in Yala, and 136 in Narathiwat, were interviewed. A statistical analysis showed that the managerial behaviors have overall outlook at an average of 3.84 + 0.56, which is considered high.  It was found that they have the strongest behavior in planning, followed by directing, staffing, organizing and controlling. This study had also found that the managerial behaviors were varied in line with the age, education, management experiences, and the firm ownership (p < 0.05). This research has come up with a conclusion that the executives of private firms in the three southernmost provinces have relatively shown good managerial behaviors. Getting to know the population character of the executive and the organization character as demonstrated in this report would be a knowledge body in the management field and it would be useful for the creation of good understanding between the managements and other members of the organization.
