Approaches to Ethical Assessment Supporting Learner’s Achievement through e-Learning System

Abstract

e-Learning is the system using Internet as the channel  for  instructional communication through Learning Management System (LMS) which aims to develop learners in cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects but it still lacks of ethical assessment system of learners for the system. The purpose of this article is to propose an approach for ethical assessment of learners learning through LMS. The contents consist of ethical assessment and measurement for e-learning, components of ethics, techniques for assessing ethics, especially a guideline for assessing learner’s responsibility that supports learning achievement. Ethical measurement and assessment consist of four components; 1) six levels of responsibility according to Bloom’s cognitive theory using the achievement test as the tool, 2) five levels of  ethical attitude according to Bloom’s theory and his partners using attitude test as the tool, 3) three levels and six steps  of ethical reasons according to Kohlberg’s theory, using situational test as the tool and 4) the test and measurement form constructed by LMS competency and used for ethical measurement that is done by observation and recording in LMS. In doing this in can create a supporting system that work with LMS, for example, using Software Agent. After that the assessment result of four aspects will be evaluated for the learner’s ethical level based on established standard. The result of ethical assessment will be the feed back information for improving learner’s ethical level by adjusting behavior and teaching ethics to learners In e-learning program.
