The Development of Southern Border Small Enterprises in Creative Economy Form

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study and develop of small enterprises in southern border provinces in creative economy form. This paper was a research and development study. Data collection was carried out by focus group discussion, development action and in-depth interview. From 30 small enterprises, 3 businesss were developed consist of Sriputri business in Yala province, Sdawa business in Pattani province and Sago farm in Narathiwat province. Development composed 3 step on planning, implementation and development conclusion. The research resulted as follows; the development of small enterprises in southern border provinces according to creative economy was divided into 2 parts. 1) Creativity covers local wisdom, skill, entrepreneur’s expertise as well as identity of product and business which ware outstanding and different from the competitors, and acceptable to relevant parties such as producers, mediators and customers. 2) Commercial utilization, involves product development according to the determined identity such as product feature, brand, packaging, target market, price, promotion etc. In addition moving the products toward commercial utilization leaded to increased gross sales and profit. The results revealed that these 3 products contribute 10%-30% of the business’ value. The entrepreneurs were satisfied with this knowledge about business development based on creative economy.
