The Participation of Village Health Volunteers on Disabled Rehabilitation in Langu District, Satun Province

Abstract


From the operation of the participation of village health volunteers on disabled rehabilitation in Langu District, Satun Province cannot achieve the goal. The purposes of this survey research were to study 1) personal factors, motivation, supportive factors, and participation of village health volunteers (VHVs) on disabled rehabilitation, 2) associations between personal factors, motivation, supportive factors, and participation of VHVs on disabled rehabilitation, and 3) problems and obstacles on disabled rehabilitation implementation of VHVs in Langu district, Satun Province. The sample was 287 VHVs. The study instrument was a questionnaire. The study findings were as follows: 1) Most of VHVs were female with an average age of 45.64 years, obtaining primary school of education, be married, holding an Islam religion, having 9.51 years on average of being VHVs, and receiving disabled rehabilitation training (93.30%) ; their motivation, supportive factors and participation on disabled rehabilitation were all at moderate levels. 2) The significant relationships at 0.05 level were found between the personal factors of VHVs consisted the level of education, working period as VHVs, trained on disabled rehabilitation, and the participation of VHVs on disabled rehabilitation. The significantly relationships at 0.05 level were found between motivation, supportive factors, and the participation of VHVs on disabled rehabilitation. 3) The major problems and obstacles of VHVs were lack of working motivation related to budget and compensation, and lack of confidence on implementation. This survey research concluded that the significant relationships were found between the personal factors of VHVs, motivation, supportive factors, and the participation of VHVs on disabled rehabilitation. The survey research should be a model for learning development potential of VHVs in order to have knowledge, have the skills, have confidence and have motivation on disabled rehabilitation.
