Abstract

The increased light pollution can cause environmental problems in European Union. Light pollution issues are the result of excessive or obtrusive illumination or poor light design and fixture including unnecessary light. Besides, Light pollution also arises from a combination
of lighting illumination and waste energy usage including town planning expansion in European member countries. However, European Union challenges such as a lack of policy and legal frameworks to guide near-term light pollution control and long-term light pollution prevention
must be addressed to facilitate the expanded use of light bulbs and lamps. The purpose of this review article is to critically analyse the contemporary challenges posed by light pollution control at the European level and address them through the current and future provision of
creative European environmental law solution associated with light pollution control. This article, which addresses restrictions of European Union legislation for the future of European Union light pollution control reform, is set up as interdisciplinary environmental and planning
knowledge for the reform of European Union light pollution control legislation. It will thus offer some guidelines for European Union light pollution control and member responsiveness.
