Development of ASEAN’s Folktale Book to Promote the Multi – Cultural Attitudes of Secondary School Students

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to analyze of ASEAN’s Folktale as intermediaries in multicultural learning of secondary school students  2) to develop ASEAN’s folktale book that promote the Multi – Cultural Attitudes of secondary school students and 3) to assess of ASEAN’s folktale book on the  secondary school students’ Multi – Cultural Attitudes.  The samples used in the research were 48 Mathayomsuksa 4/1 students in the second semester of academic year 2016, Sri Ayudhya school. The research tools consisted of an interview form for expert on the selection of ASEAN’s folktales, ASEAN’s folktales analysis form, an interview form for expert interviews on the development of ASEAN’s folktale book, the multi – cultural attitudes measurement form, and an interview  form for teachers and students  on the use of ASEAN’s folktale book. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis, Arithmetic mean ( ), standard deviation (S.D.) and t-test (dependent samples).  The results of the research are as follow; 1) ASEAN’s folktales present the agricultural society, the faith in supernatural, the relationship with the water and the adherence to good.  2) The developed ASEAN’s folktales book has 6 chapters: General knowledge of folktales, Tai-Kadai folktales, Chinese-Tibetan folktales, Austroasiatic folktales, Austronesian folktales, and Differences or similarities: reviewing cultural from ASEAN’s folktales reveals that in each chapter, learning objectives are inhered, cultural are described, questions and suggestions are equipped. 3) The developed ASEAN’s folktales books are in high qualities and be able to promote multi – cultural attitudes of secondary school students in the statistically significant at the .05 level.
