The Basic Development Handbook of Participatory Zebra Dove Care for Enhancing Elderly Activities in Yala City Municipality

Abstract

This study aimed at developing a participatory handbook of raising Zebra dove for promoting eldely activities and analyzing the results of employing the participatory manual of raising Zebra dove in Yala city municipality area. The in-depth interview was conducted with 10 key imformant experts in raising Zebra dove. In terms of the analysis of the use of the participatory handbook of raising Zebra dove in Yala city municipality area, the satisfactory questionnaires towards the participatory handbook of raising Zebra dove were distributed to 364 elderly people in Yala city municipality area. The results found that the handbook of raising Zebra dove was comprised of the historical development of raising Zebra dove; types of farming; breeding; hatching; the newborn Zebra dove; the early stages cares of Zebra dove; Zebra dove cares; and diseases in Zebra dove. Besides, the investigation of employing the manual results showed that the overall satisfaction was at the high level ( = 3.85, S.D. 0.70). When each items were considered individually, the introduction aspect was at the high level ( = 3.64, S.D. 0.78). The satisfaction of the content aspect was at the high level ( = 3.75, S.D. 0.55). The language usage aspect was at the high level ( = 3.78, S.D. 0.72). The design and layout of the manual was at the level ( = 3.69, S.D. 0.66). In addition, the distinguishing of sounds, gender, feeding, and knowledge of Zebra dove diseases should be added in the handbook. The suggestions included a policy to promote concrete farming by stipulated in the development plans in the three southern border provinces.
