Behavioral Characteristics Against Islamic Ways Among Muslim Risk Youth in Three Southern Border Provinces of Thailand

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate behavioral characteristics against Islamic ways among Muslim risk youth in three Southern border provinces including Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani using qualitative research methodology. Data was collected by in-depth interviews with 40 key informants and 200 brainstorming sessions. The result found that Muslim risk youth in three Southern border provinces is lack of awareness of self-expression, presenting identity in social media openly and inappropriately, affection of western mindset, drug addiction and football gamble, stealing money from parents and peers, living together with opposite sex in the dark, adulterous relations in public place, living as unmarried couple, and sexual intercourse
