Guidelines for Work Motivation of Private School Teachers under the Office of the Private Education Commission, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

The objective of this research were to 1) study the level of teacher motivation at private schools in Chiang Mai Province, 2) compare the teacher motivation at private schools in Chiang Mai Province classified by gender, age, educational level, work experience, and compensation, and  3) propose guidelines for work motivation of private school teachers in Chiang Mai Province. This research was divided into 2 phases. The first phase used a sample group of 346 private school teachers to study the level of teacher motivation and compare teacher motivation. The second phase was done by interviewing 5 school administrators and personnel management experts in order to draw guidelines for work motivation of private school teachers in Chiang Mai Province.


The results of the research revealed that 1) private school teachers in Chiang Mai Province had an overall a high level of work motivation, 2) private school teachers in Chiang Mai province which were differs by gender, age, work experiences, and compensation shown different levels of motivation. On the other hand, private school teachers in Chiang Mai province which were differs by education shown no different levels of motivation, and 3) Issues that executives should pay attention to as motivating factors for growth opportunities. The director should ensure that teachers develop themselves in their practice, such as supporting training and leading to evaluation and consideration of results. Compensation from appropriate elements Supporting factors for salary/ Executives should determine the salary rate that can be promoted by the organization with the current cost of living.
