Curriculum Development for Promoting Autonomous Learning: A Case Study of the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Curriculum and Instruction, Faculty of Education, Naresuan University

Abstract
This research aimed to study Curriculum Development for Promoting Autonomous Learning: A Case Study of the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Curriculum and Instruction, Faculty of Education, Naresuan University. The main informants were 7 instructors and learners who had knowledge and understanding and participated in the development of the curriculum. The research team collected data using a document analysis form and a semi-structured interview form, which experts considered to have appropriate content validity. The accuracy of the collected data was verified using triangulation techniques, and the data were subsequently analyzed through content analysis, grouping, and description. The research results found that 1) The results of the synthesis of the curriculum development process of the curriculum developers found that there were 4 main steps: goal setting, curriculum planning and development, curriculum implementation, and curriculum monitoring and evaluation. 2) The results of the study of the curriculum development for the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Curriculum and Instruction, it was found that the curriculum had been developed in accordance with the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Version 4 criteria, which consists of 8 criteria: 1) Expected learning outcomes, 2) Programme structure and content, 3) Teaching and learning Approach, 4) Student assessment, 5) Academic staff, 6) Student support services, 7) Facilities and infrastructure, and 8) Output and outcomes. However, since most of the data were obtained from interviews and analysis of curriculum documents, and the assessment according to the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance Criteria used real-world assessment through the examination of evidence for each issue, the curriculum should prepare for such an assessment according to the system through preparing complete evidence of implementation.
