Abstract

This research aims to develop an environmental management model in primary schools in Thailand in the next decade using the EDFR technique. The research instruments are semi-structured interviews and a 5-level rating questionnaire with a consistency index of 0.67 - 1.00 and a reliability of 0.78. The main informants are experts who were purposively selected from school administrators, academics, lecturers, teachers who oversee the management of learning environments in primary schools, environmentalists in the civil society, and community leaders who have experience in environmental operations, totaling 32 people, and divided into 2 groups: Group 1, consisting of 21 people, to provide ideas, principles, and guidelines for model development through interviews and questionnaires; Group 2, consisting of 11 people, to evaluate the model through an expert seminar. Each group contains all 6 groups of experts. Data were analyzed by content analysis and grouping, mode, median, interquartile range, mean, and standard deviation. The results of the research found that the environmental management model in primary schools in Thailand in the next decade consists of 4 components: environmental management process, environmental direction and policy determination, participation creation, review and monitoring, and target environmental management. The main goal is that students have a sense of awareness and responsibility for the environment. The school has a sustainable environmental management system and the community around the school manages the environment appropriately, seriously and systematically, which experts assess as a good model that is appropriate and can be applied in the school.
