Causal Loop Analysis for Workforce Supply Chain in Thailand’s Logistics Industry

Abstract
This research aims to develop the structure of the logistics workforce supply chain in Thailand and to analyze the causal loops within the logistics workforce supply chain in the country using the Systems Thinking framework and Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) as analytical tools. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including literature review, expert interviews with seven professionals, and focus group discussions with thirty participants from the government, academic, and business sectors. The findings identified eleven critical variables affecting workforce development, such as government budget allocation, wages, labor market demand, and technology adoption. These variables were categorized into demand-side and supply-side factors, interacting through reinforcing and balancing feedback loops represented in the developed CLD model. The analysis revealed that increasing government funding and integrating education with industry are high-potential policy leverage points. In contrast, technological disruptions and competition with foreign labor act as balancing forces that constrain workforce growth. Policy recommendations include fostering systematic collaboration among government agencies, private sectors, and educational institutions, as well as designing curricula and learning approaches that align with future skill demands. These strategies will support the sustainable development of a logistics workforce capable of adapting to dynamic industrial challenges.
