Validation of the Respectful Mind Measurement Model for Teacher Professional Students of Bachelor’s Degree in the Eastern Region

Abstract

This research aimed to validation of measurement model of the respectful mind for teacher professional students of bachelor’s degree in the eastern region. The sample consisted of 1,036 teacher professional students derived from two-stage stratified random sampling. The research instrument was a six-level rating scale questionnaire consisted of 7 components: Respect for human rights, Humbleness, Friendly collaboration, Empathy, Positive thinking, Self-respect and Respect for the public and environment, which were derived from the synthesis of documents combined with interview with experts. The statistics used to analyze the data was confirmatory factor analysis. The research result was that the measurement model of the respectful mind for teacher professional students of bachelor’s degree in the eastern region has 5 components: Respect for human rights, Humbleness, Friendly collaboration and empathy, Positive thinking and self-respect and Respect for the public and environment, the measurement model has the quality of validity considered by: 1) the model had a good fit with the empirical data with higher 0.05 for p-value and all values fit indices met the evaluation criteria, 2) construct validity; factor loadings, average variance extracted and construct reliability met the evaluation criteria of the convergent validity and have appropriate of covariance between factors. The study can be concluded that the respectful mind measurement model is reliable quality. Therefore, institutions that produce teacher professional students of bachelor’s degree in the eastern region should use the measurement model to evaluate students and plan for their further development.
