Abstract

This study aimed to: 1) develop and evaluate the effectiveness of lesson plans on Al-Fiqh subject using the 5-step learning activities for primary school students, year 6 according to the 80/80 standard criteria, 2) compare analytical thinking skills through the 5-step learning activities using the criterion of 70 percent, 3) compare the academic achievement on Al-Fiqh subject specifically on halal and haram foods, before and after applying the 5-step learning activities and 4) assess the students' satisfaction with the learning process. The population consisted of ten primary school students, year 6 from Ban Bado School during the second semester of the academic year 2023, selected by purposive sampling. The research instruments included: 1) eight lesson plans based on the 5-step learning ladder approach, 2) an analytical thinking skills assessment, 3) an academic achievement test and 4) a satisfaction questionnaire. The statistical methods employed were mean, standard deviation and t-test. The research findings showed that: 1) The effectiveness of the lesson plans met the specified criteria with an effectiveness of E1/E2 = 80.31/81.50, 2) The students' analytical thinking skills were significantly higher than the 70 percent criterion, with statistical significance at the 0.001 level, 3) Post-learning academic achievement was significantly higher than the pre-learning scores, with statistical significance at the 0.001 level, 4) The students' satisfaction was at the high level with an overall mean score. Recommendations from this study suggest that teachers should adapt activities to suit individual learner levels, systematically allocate time and extend research to larger sample groups.
