An Analysis the Lokathatu in Metaphysical View

Abstract

This article gives an analysis of the three sizes of Lokathatu in Tipiṭaka to determine if the objective truth about These heavenly bodies is the same or different from the Universe.

Both astronomers and academics believe that the three sizes of Lokathatu are too abstract to be compared to the Universe. In addition, there is no definite meaning of Lokathatu, whether it means the world or cosmos, if This is the case, the author believes that this argument may affect Tathakatabodhisaddha which is the basis of Buddhists’ faith in Lord Buddha's enlightenment. It is, therefore, proposed that analysis of this issue be done using metaphysical view.
