Strategies for Improving the Quality of Education in Small Schools Under the Phatthalung Primary Educational Service Area Office 1

Abstract

The research aims to 1) study the current situation of small schools, 2) develop strategies for improving educational quality, and 3) evaluate the strategies. This is a mixed-methods research approach, utilizing a quantitative sample of 181 people and a qualitative sample of 14 people. The tools used include questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis.

The findings reveal that:

         1) Small schools have strengths in the close relationships between teachers and students, comprehensive care, and community involvement. However, they face weaknesses such as insufficient teachers, heavy workloads, and limitations in facilities. Opportunities arise from government policies promoting the use of DLTV to address the teacher shortage. However, challenges exist due to policies that do not align with the conditions of small schools, as well as limited budgets.

         2) The 5 strategic areas: 1) Student Quality Development by adjusting the curriculum to support equitable access to education and fostering a system of fair competition. 2) Teacher Development and Training in practical technology through the concept of Active Learning. 3) Learning Management Process Development by creating a safe and flexible learning environment. 4) Management Development through decentralizing management and fostering collaboration with the community. 5) Development of Infrastructure and Equipment by using resources efficiently and sustainably.

         3) The evaluation of the strategy indicates that it is highly suitable and feasible.
