Abstract

This research aimed to: 1.To study the principles and methods of meditation training based on the “Vitisā Power of Mind” approach for Thai children; 2.To analyze the principles and practices of meditation training aimed at developing intelligence at Jirapittaya School, Ban Hong District, Lamphun Province; and 3.To develop a meditation training model that enhances intelligence according to the Vitisā Power of Mind approach, A mixed-method design was employed, collecting data from documents, observations, in-depth interviews, and a one-month pre- and post-meditation training experiment with Grade 6 students. Quantitative data were analyzed using the paired-sample t-test, and qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis.

          The findings revealed that:

1)The principles and methods of meditation training under the Vitisā Power of Mind emphasize “Vitisā-samadhi,” or consistency-based meditation, through the repeated recitation of “phuttho” three times a day for about five minutes each session, combined with short activities such as games, storytelling, walking meditation, and sitting meditation.

2.Analysis of the principles and practices of meditation training for intelligence development at Jirapittaya School showed that actual practice results indicated significantly higher post-training scores in the domains of virtue, ability, and happiness compared to pre-training scores (p < .05). These findings were consistent with qualitative data, which indicated improvements in calmness, mindfulness, emotional regulation, responsibility, and motivation.

3.The development of a meditation training model to enhance intelligence based on the Vitisā Power of Mind produced the PDCA Model, consisting of fourcomponents: (1) P = Program Studies: Developing a meditation training curriculum; (2) D = Doing: Providing meditation training for children, teachers, and parents, along with implementing a “Flexible Vitisā-samadhi System” that can be practiced both at school and at home;(3) C = Coordinating & Checking: Coordinating and conducting holistic evaluations, organizing orientations, and establishing a Vitisā Center; and(4) A = Award & Advance: Using a reward system and continuing with the Youth Power-of-Mind Ambassador Program.
