The role of Kruba Chao Sriwichai in community development

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) examine the role of Buddhist monks in community development, 2) explore the role of Khruba Siwichai in such development, and 3) analyze his contribution in depth. A qualitative research approach was employed, combining documentary analysis with structured and in-depth interviews involving 15 participants, including monks, community leaders, and local scholars. Data were analyzed through descriptive and interpretive methods based on concepts of moral leadership and sustainable development.

          The research results revealed that:

1) Buddhist monks play a vital role in shaping community values, promoting morality and ethical behavior, guiding spiritual well-being, preserving traditions, and serving as trusted leaders in both normal and crisis situations.

2) Khruba Siwichai was a prominent religious and community leader. His work, driven by faith and strict observance of the monastic code, contributed to moral, social, and cultural development. His public projects emphasized spiritual unity, self-reliance, and collective effort over material gain.

          3) In-depth analysis shows that Khruba Siwichai embodied active leadership, leading by example. He used Dhamma to resolve community issues and foster cooperation. His ability to inspire through action, rather than instruction alone, demonstrates a holistic integration of religious principles and community empowerment.
