Representation of the transgender in the society in TV series “BAI MAI TEE PLIT PLIW”

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the representation of the transgender in society in the TV series “BAI MAI TEE PLT PLIW”. This research is qualitative which has 21 scopes of the study the episode and the discussion of the characters.

The results of the research showed that the effect can be seen which affects the occurrence of the substitute image which can be classified into 5 points as follows 1) representation of the transgender society is a framework for the way of life of a transgender, under deprivation conditions 2) representation of the transgender of family members from transgender, the background of both internal and external expression has factors that result from the family 3) representation of the transgender of love, society tends to make matters of the love of the third sex to encounter unrequited love 4) representation of the transgender towards oneself submission of male identity to female, and 5) representation of transgender people in terms of rights and liberties society identifies gender identities at an early age.
​            Therefore, the “transgender” in the TV series, there is a substitute representation of the transgender which created under the determination of the society. It frames to exist as a second class population attenuation limited rights or present some of the negative features for others to recognize reflections from the characters and the context but still found some openness about the transgender, also tries to show the potential of the inner myself.
