PROMOTING AND DEVELOPING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR DISABILITIES IN CHONBURI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to, 1) examine how the quality of life of individuals with disabilities is promoted and developed in Chonburi Province, 2) explore the difficulties and obstacles that arise in this process, and 3) investigate the strategies employed to enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities in Chonburi Province.  Qualitative research is used as the research design. Key informants include representatives from the Provincial Office of Social Development and Human Security, representatives from the Provincial Disability Service Center, representatives from local administrative organizations, representatives from associations/clubs for people with disabilities, representatives from the private sector, academics, representatives of people with disabilities, and representatives of caregivers, totaling 24 people. They were selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument used was an interview. The data was analyzed by descriptive summarization. 


The research findings revealed that.


1) Promotion and Development of the Quality of Life for People with Disabilities in Chonburi Province; regarding the health aspect of people with disabilities, it has been found that there are health check-up activities, home visits, and health education training programs. However, in terms of education, it has been observed that the promoted education is not comprehensive, and educational options are limited. Concerning employment and income, it has been found that there is a push to provide more job opportunities in various establishments, but this is still not widespread. Regarding social integration, it has been observed that there are efforts to promote group activities for people with disabilities, but some individuals still do not want to participate. As for housing and the environment, it has been found that there are ongoing efforts to renovate, repair, and make accommodations suitable, but limited budgets have hindered widespread implementation.


2) Problems and obstacles in promoting and developing the quality of life for people with disabilities in Chonburi province include insufficient personnel,a lack of understanding of policies, inadequate government support for vocational training, and a perception among some people with disabilities of having low self-worth. Additionally, societal misunderstandings about people with disabilities have limited employment opportunities


3)To enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities in Chonburi Province,it is recommended to promote community involvement and participation. Training should be provided to relevant personnel to facilitate the formation of disability groups. Furthermore, the establishment of community volunteers and networks to provide assistance is essential. Finally, efforts should be made to raise awareness among businesses to create more employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
