Abstract

This research aims to: 1) study the personal factors and problems of the elderly in Ban Nonchai community, Mueang district, Khon Kaen province; 2) promote the health of the elderly in Ban Nonchai community, Mueang district, Khon Kaen province, based on the principles of salutogenesis; 3) explore the role of the community in promoting the health of the elderly in Ban Nonchai community, Mueang district, Khon Kaen province; and 4) provide recommendations for promoting the health of the elderly in Ban Nonchai community, Mueang district, Khon Kaen province, after the COVID-19 pandemic, based on the principles of Ayussadhamma. This research employed a mixed methods design, utilizing questionnaires for quantitative data collection and interviews for qualitative data collection. The sample consisted of 244 elderly individuals from three villages in Ban Nonchai community, Mueang district, Khon Kaen province.  The statistical analysis employed in this research includes percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi-square test, t-test, and F-test. Data was collected from representatives of elderly individuals in three Nonchai communities: 9 public health volunteers (PHVs), 3 representatives of the abbot, for a total of 13 participants. Additionally, content analysis was conducted on interview data.


The research results were as follows; Most of the respondents, 59.80 percent, were female and 40.20 percent were male. 46.70 percent of the respondents are between 60-69 years old, and 50 percent of the respondents were married status, and they, 51.23 percent, were unemployed. 49.18 percent  earned from Elderly Allowance, 73.36 precent were graduated primary school. 57 percent of the respondents had no congenital disease, 42.86 percent had congenital disease. Strengthening the health of the older in Ban Nonchai community after COVID-19 pandemic was at high mean level (equation= 3.40), it can be divided in 4 aspect; Physical Well-being(equation= 3.45), Social Well-being (equation= 3.43), Intellectual Well-being (equation= 3.43), and Mental Well-being (equation= 3.30).
