The Needs Assessment Research on the Area-Based Research Competencies of Pre-Service Teachers in Yala Rajabhat University

Abstract

Competency is an important tool in the development of the country. Especially research competencies. This research objective was mainly to study the needs and for the development approaches of the area-based research competencies of pre-service teachers of Yala Rajabhat University. The sample group was 163 pre-service teachers of Yala Rajabhat University by stratified sampling. The research tools were needs questionnaire on the area-based research competencies, interviews and group discussions. The statistics used to analyze the data were mean, standard deviation, and the index of the priority of adaptive needs and content analysis. The research results were found that needs on the area-based research competencies of pre-service teachers of Yala Rajabhat university. The first three maximum were the knowledge of using research data analysis program (PNI modified = 0.55), the knowledge of the selection of statistical data analysis (PNI modified = 0.52) and data analysis reading skills, and interpreting the results (PNI modified = 0.52), respectively, the development approaches of the area-based research competencies are students should take action on their own research, together with a research-based teaching and learning process with a mentor system and coaching. In addition, workshops should be organized, using a data analysis program, selecting the appropriate statistics for research, reading and interpreting data analysis results.
