The Development of Professional Learning Community (PLC) Model for Enhancing the Competency of Learning Experiences Management of Early Childhood Teachers in the 21st Century

Abstract

Early childhood teachers have major roles in learning management for child development in the 21st century. The previous teacher development of the field seemed to be less beneficial and wasted the budget. Using the concepts of professional learning community to directly develop teachers in the contextual areas will be more beneficial than taking teacher out of their classrooms. The research and development need to be conducted in order to study the needs of early childhood teachers' competency development of learning experience management in the 21st century; the developed model and the efficiency of using the model from early childhood teacher samplings of songkhla municipality schools. The statistics for data analysis were Priority Needs Index (PNI), mean, standard deviation, t-test and descriptive analysis. The results of the research were found that early childhood teachers needed to develop their competency of learning experience management focused on learner-center the most. Model of professional learning community of early childhood in the 21st century consisted of the orientation of the model called "PILOTS Model"; conditions of using the model and the evaluation of the efficiency of using the model. It was found that early childhood teachers gained the competency of learning experience management after the use of the model higher than before with the significant statistics at .05 with the results of using the developed model with satisfaction at the most level. The research results could be used as guidelines for working units to operate the process of model with the appropriate awareness of conditions and schools should support suggestions from experts, mutual developing teachers as well as having administrators' friendly consultation.
