Factors Affecting Low Academic Achievement of Students at Angthong College of Dramatic Arts

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to examine factors affecting low academic achievement of students at Angthong College of Dramatic Arts, and propose guidelines for the improvement of students’ low academic achievement, the prevention of students’ academic decline and the reinforcement students’ academic achievement. The sample for this research consisted of 1) 15 Mathayom three students of Angthong College of Dramatic Arts who have low academic achievement; 2) 15 Parents of the target group; 3) 11 administrators and teachers; 4) 10 classmates of the target group. Data collected by Interviews and observations, data analyzed by Content analysis technic.


          Results:


          Factors affecting the low academic achievement of students at Angthong College of


Dramatic Arts are organized according from high to low: students 5.8%, teachers 3.0%, School 7%, parents of the target group 5%.


          The guidelines for the improvement of students' low academic achievement, the prevention of students' academic decline and the reinforcement students' academic achievement are consist of 1) understanding the students; 2) narrowing the student conduct; 3) Development of Teachers; 4) understanding the teachers to provide a suitable homework; 5) Understanding about role of teachers; 6) Understanding with parents;7) prepare a calendar of activities of the college; 8) Planning for students to the show; 9) entrusted to people close to the student stimulation; 10) held a brainstorming meeting.
