STUDY HISTORY OF POI SANG LONG TRADITION IN CHIANG TUNG, MYANMAR

Abstract

                This research is the study of the history of Poi Sang Long tradition or look know ordination of Chiang Tung Shan State, Myanmar, has 2 purposes; 1. To study the process of this ceremony 2. To produce public relations materials in English such as brochures, QR code or other methods. This is a qualitative research. A group of monks and 10 people who know about the Poi Sang Long tradition were interviewed. The research instruments consisted of the structured Interview and the observation forms.

              The results found that the history and the ritual procedures is very valuable to the minds of the people of Chiang Tung, Tai Yai, Tai Khen and etc, because it is another tradition which the Chiang Tung people give a lot of attention and respect in order to bring their children to be ordained to study the Dharma books and refine the mind, attain the body and verbal action a person to grow effectively, being a good person of parents and society, knowing the right and wrong actions and also promoting the preservation of Buddhism as well. Therefore, the people of Chiang Tung have given importance and continue to carry it out strict and continuously.
