Abstract
The Chinese in Thailand have a long history and a large number of them. Chinese traditional culture was introduced to Thailand with the migration of Chinese people. In addition to keeping them, the Thai Chinese also introduced their shared and inherited ethnic culture. As an important carrier for the inheritance of traditional Chinese culture, the Lunar New Year has a broad and profound mass and historical foundation. However, with the development and progress of the times, the Chinese New Year food culture of the two countries has formed their own cultural connotations. It is of great significance to fully understand the food culture of the Lunar New Year ceremonies of the two countries and to effectively play the positive role of the traditional ethnic culture, both in theory and in practice.
The research aimed to study of food used in Chinese New Year ceremonies between Chinese-Chinese and Thais and Chinese in the People’s Republic of China. The comparison of food in the canteen owner during the Chinese New Year ceremonies and the food in the Guanyin Temple during the Chinese New Year ceremonies (Guan Yin Temple) The results showed that the functions and characteristics of food used in Chinese and Thai New Year ceremonies are different by social context and food culture but still adheres to the same traditions in performing the ritual.
