THE DEVELOPMENT OF CURRICULUM TO ENHANCE : THE CHANG PHA PARADE TRADITION OF BAN MOHLUANG , MAE MOH, LAMPANG

Abstract
This research aimed to: 1) develop and validate the quality of a curriculum designed to promote the Pha Chang procession tradition in Ban Mohluang Community, Mae Moh District, Lampang Province; and 2) examine the outcomes of implementing the aforementioned curriculum. The target group for this research comprised 15 first-year Higher Vocational Certificate students majoring in Digital Business Technology at EGAT Mae Moh Technical College, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included the developed curriculum, curriculum support materials, a practical skills assessment form for crafting Pha Chang, and an achievement test measuring knowledge of the Pha Chang procession tradition. Data analysis involved calculating means, percentages, standard deviations, and the Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC).
The research findings revealed that:
- The curriculum designed to promote the Pha Chang (Cloth Elephant Parade)
tradition in Ban Mo Luang community, Mae Mo district, Lampang province, comprises eight key components: 1) Background and significance of the curriculum; 2) Principles of the curriculum; 3) Objectives of the curriculum; 4) Curriculum structure, which consists of one learning unit titled "Pha Chang Parade Tradition," further divided into three learning plans: Learning Plan 1: Unveiling the Legend of the Pha Chang Parade Tradition, Learning Plan 2: Learning the Artistic Wisdom of the Mo People, and Learning Plan 3: Nurturing Wisdom Keepers; 5) Content; 6) Teaching and learning management; 7) Learning media and resources; and 8) Measurement and evaluation. The evaluation results indicated that the curriculum demonstrated a high level of appropriateness. Similarly, the curriculum support documents were also found to be highly appropriate.
- The target group in the curriculum exhibited a quality level of 4 (Very Good) in the
fabric elephant crafting assessment. Moreover, their mean score on the achievement test for the fabric elephant procession tradition was 24.40 (81.33%), which is above the set criterion of 80%.
