DEVELOPMENT OF ELECTRONIC LEARNING KITS ON PROFESSIONAL CHINESE READING FOR VOCATIONAL CERTIFICATE ELECTRICAL POWER PROGRAM

Abstract

This researched aimed to: 1) develop and evaluate the effectiveness of an electronic learning package on Chinese reading for vocational students, based on the 80/80 standard criterion; 2) examine the improvement in Chinese reading ability by comparing pre-test and post-test scores; 3) investigate the learning achievement in Chinese after using the electronic learning package; and 4) study the students’ satisfaction with the learning package. The sample group consisted of 130 students enrolled in the course 20000-1221 Chinese for Communication in Careers in the second semester of the 2024 academic year. Cluster sampling was employed, with classrooms as the sampling unit, resulting in a sample of 20 students from the Electrical Power Department. The research instruments included the electronic learning package, an achievement test, a Chinese reading proficiency test, and a student satisfaction questionnaire. The data were analyzed using t-test, mean, and standard deviation. The results showed that: 1) the electronic learning package had an efficiency score of E1/E2 = 83.86/85.16, meeting the 80/80 criterion; 2) post-test Chinese reading scores were significantly higher than pre-test scores at the .05 level, indicating that the observed difference was unlikely to occur by chance (only 5% probability) and suggesting that learning had a significant impact on the scores; 3) students’ learning achievement after using the learning package was significantly higher at the .05 level, meaning that the difference in achievement was not due to chance more than 5%, confirming that the learning package effectively enhanced learning achievement; and 4) The students were most satisfied with the electronic learning package in terms of its usefulness, with a mean score of 4.75 and an average standard deviation of 0.39.
